NIBBLING ALL DAY LONG

Today, as I was watching the mallards at Step Creek look for bugs at the bottom of the creek; forage for food on the side of the slope near the waterfall; I said to myself…they are looking for food all the time, getting teeny tiny mouthfuls at a time, staying alive that way. No wonder they’re in shape. I rarely see an obese bird.

And I said to myself, hm; we Christians should learn from the mallards—you have to keep nibbling life all the time. You don’t just ingest truth at Worship Service or Sunday School or Midweek Prayer Meeting. Some people think they are good Christians if they pray before meals or at bedtime. To others, an even better Christian discipline is to start each day with “quiet time”.

But it’s gotta be smiling with the Father and whispering with Him all day long, to really stay in any Father-Son relationship. Nothing else really works—and actually, once tasted, nothing else will do.
